Polymarket traders are closely split, pricing 0.5% monthly CPI at 50% alongside ≥0.9% at 50%, reflecting uncertainty after April 2026's hotter-than-expected Consumer Price Index rose 0.6% month-over-month—versus consensus for milder gains—with core CPI accelerating 0.4% monthly and 2.8% annually amid sticky shelter costs and energy surges. This follows March's 0.9% headline jump, the largest since 2022, fueling trader debate on whether inflation momentum persists into May via gasoline volatility and services pricing. Consensus forecasts hover near 0.5-0.6% monthly for the June 10 release, but elevated Treasury yields and Fed hawkishness amplify risks of an upside surprise, with no clear swing data yet to break the deadlock.
