Trader sentiment in the dozen eggs price market centers on the ongoing recovery in U.S. laying flocks after highly pathogenic avian influenza disruptions in 2025. Wholesale prices have fallen to roughly $0.17–$0.39 per dozen amid expanded production and lighter demand, placing downward pressure on retail levels that averaged $2.35 in March 2026 and $2.25 in April per Bureau of Labor Statistics data. This supply rebound has driven the market-implied odds toward the $2.00–$2.25 and $2.25–$2.50 ranges, reflecting expectations that seasonal increases in output will keep consumer prices within a narrow band through May. The next CPI release and any fresh flock reports remain the key near-term catalysts that could shift these probabilities if avian flu risks reemerge or demand strengthens.
