Christopher Thies, an 18-year-old German junior ranked around ITF 70-73 with recent J200 success and a college commitment, enters this M15 Bucharest 2 round-of-16 clay match after securing his first ITF Futures main-draw win locally. Aljaz Jeran, the 22-year-old Slovenian ranked near ATP 1035, brings more professional experience but arrives with inconsistent recent ITF results, including first-round exits. The pair has no prior head-to-head, and the clay surface aligns with both players’ European backgrounds. Thies’s current momentum and junior pedigree contrast with Jeran’s established but lower-ranked pro standing, shaping trader views on the closely contested matchup.
