The Socialist Party's closed primary, limited to party and Place Publique members ahead of the October 9-10 first round, features a crowded field where Raphaël Glucksmann holds the lead while several rivals compete for second. Olivier Faure's late-August entry and subsequent push to broaden participation have not shifted internal dynamics, leaving him trailing amid party divisions over the July membership vote favoring a restricted process. Ségolène Royal's return, along with bids from Philippe Brun, Jérôme Guedj, and Emmanuel Maurel, fragments support among different factions and voter bases, sustaining tight positioning for the runner-up spot. Upcoming candidate forums and final validation of applications by mid-September could clarify turnout patterns and endorsements before voting begins.
