Goldman Sachs holds a commanding 75.5% market-implied probability of serving as lead underwriter for OpenAI’s IPO, reflecting its established role as a top bookrunner alongside Morgan Stanley in the company’s confidential S-1 filing. Recent reports highlight Goldman’s edge in securing the prestigious “lead left” position on the prospectus, bolstered by its recent win of that spot for SpaceX and its dominance in large-scale technology offerings. Traders view the two banks as the primary contenders for the high-profile mandate, with Goldman’s deeper relationships and execution track record tilting consensus in its favor amid preparations for a potential fall 2026 debut. Morgan Stanley trails at 22.5% as the clear secondary choice, while lower-probability banks reflect minimal reported involvement.

If no IPO occurs by December 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, or OpenAI completes an initial public offering without a designated lead underwriter, this market will resolve to “Other.”
If multiple banks are identified as lead underwriters, this market will resolve according to the primary lead underwriter. If the hierarchy between them is unclear, this market will resolve once it is conclusively evident which bank is the primary lead underwriter, for example, through the order in which the banks are listed in the underwriting section of OpenAI's final initial public offering prospectus, once released.
The primary resolution source for this market will be official disclosures from OpenAI. A consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
