Silver (XAGUSD) trades near $65.50 per ounce in mid-August 2026, supported by a sixth consecutive annual market deficit driven by robust industrial fabrication in solar photovoltaics, electric vehicles, and electronics that outpaces mine supply growth. Recent softer July CPI and mixed PPI prints have tempered near-term rate-hike expectations, easing pressure on real yields while a firmer dollar and Treasury yields near 4.7% cap further gains. Structural deficits are projected to persist through 2026 even as total supply edges higher to 1.05 billion ounces, with industrial demand remaining the dominant segment above 640 million ounces. Traders monitor upcoming inflation releases and Fed communications for shifts in monetary policy that could influence the gold-silver ratio and risk appetite before month-end.
