The Gold Card visa program, launched via executive order in September 2025, offers expedited U.S. permanent residency to high-net-worth applicants in exchange for a $1 million unrestricted gift to the Department of Commerce. As of mid-May 2026, only one applicant has received approval despite earlier claims of over $1.3 billion in projected sales, with 338 formal requests submitted and just 165 processing fees paid. This limited uptake stems from extended vetting timelines, ongoing legal challenges questioning the program's constitutionality, and warnings from immigration attorneys about procedural risks. With several months remaining in the calendar year, these operational and regulatory hurdles continue to shape trader expectations toward the lowest volume bracket.
