The departure of White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt in late August 2026 without a named successor has left the next briefing assignment fluid amid ongoing staffing decisions in the Trump administration. Multiple senior officials, including Vice President JD Vance who led the September 3 session and Cabinet members such as Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, and others who filled in during prior coverage periods, remain in contention. With no confirmed schedule or permanent appointment, trader consensus has compressed implied probabilities across a broad field of potential spokespeople, reflecting uncertainty over whether the role will rotate among existing aides, communications staff, or higher-profile figures. Any official announcement of the next podium appearance, an internal appointment, or a shift in briefing responsibilities could quickly consolidate volume on one or two names.

Resolution is based on who actually delivers the briefing from the podium, not on who is listed or announced in advance. If the individual scheduled or announced to give a briefing does not ultimately lead it, this market will resolve to the individual who does. An individual who appears at a qualifying briefing only as a guest, or who speaks only after being introduced by the individual leading the briefing, will not qualify.
For the purposes of this market, a White House press briefing is an event listed on the public White House schedule as a press briefing. Any such briefing will qualify, even if the individual leading it has not been formally announced as the Press Secretary or as an acting or interim Press Secretary. "New Media" briefings and special briefings including additional guests will qualify, so long as the individual leads the briefing.
Impromptu press gaggles, and remarks that are not listed on the public schedule as a press briefing, will not qualify.
If two or more individuals jointly lead the next qualifying briefing, this market will resolve to the individual who speaks first.
If no qualifying White House press briefing occurs by September 30, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to "Other".
This market will resolve based on footage of the briefing, as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting.
