Silver (XAG/USD) trades near $63.50–$64 per ounce in mid-September 2026, pressured by market-implied odds above 85% for a 25-basis-point Federal Reserve rate hike at the September 15–16 FOMC meeting. Hotter-than-expected August CPI and PPI readings, combined with oil prices surging above $100 amid Middle East supply disruptions, have lifted 10-year Treasury yields toward 5% and supported a stronger dollar, weighing on the non-yielding metal. Recent price action shows a pullback from early-September highs near $68–$69, with traders defending support around the 50-day moving average. Industrial demand and a sixth consecutive annual supply deficit provide longer-term underpinning, yet short-term sentiment remains tied to monetary policy signals and any post-FOMC revisions to rate-path expectations.
