Latest National Weather Service guidance places Chicago's August 30 high near 87°F under partly sunny skies with south-southwest winds of 10-15 mph and gusts to 25 mph. This southerly flow advects warmer air while enhanced mixing limits extreme surface heating and partial cloud cover reduces solar insolation relative to clear conditions. The forecast exceeds the 1991-2020 climatological average of 81°F, supporting the tight clustering of market-implied odds around the 84-87°F bins. Key variables differentiating outcomes include morning cloud trends, any midday convective development that could cap temperatures a degree or two lower, and precise wind-driven boundary-layer mixing ahead of resolution against official Chicago O'Hare observations.
