**Strong ongoing demand for the limited 70mm IMAX screenings of Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey is sustaining trader sentiment for a second extension.** Released July 17, 2026, the film—shot entirely on IMAX film cameras and playing on just 25 U.S. screens—sold out weeks (and in some cases seven weeks) in advance during its initial run. This prompted Universal and IMAX to extend the engagement one month to September 16. As of early August, advance sell-outs continue, reflecting intense audience interest in the exclusive 1.43:1 aspect-ratio presentation and Nolan’s signature large-format experience. With only a finite number of operational 70mm projectors available, any further extension depends on sustained ticket velocity through mid-September. Traders appear to price in a better-than-even chance of another prolongation if sell-outs persist, while acknowledging the hard cap on screen count as the main constraint against indefinite runs. The next key signal will be whether theaters report continued multi-week sell-through as the September cutoff approaches.
