Heightened strategic rivalry between Israel and Turkey has produced sharp diplomatic breaks, including severed ties and mutual accusations over Syria, Gaza, and Eastern Mediterranean security, yet both capitals have avoided direct military engagement. Turkish officials have signaled readiness through rhetoric and force posture adjustments while acknowledging the prohibitive costs of confronting a NATO member, and Israeli planning treats Ankara as a long-term adversary without pursuing kinetic escalation. Recent analyses from mid-2026 describe an emerging cold war of alliances, proxy competition, and non-kinetic measures rather than open conflict, with shared recognition that a clash would impose severe regional and international repercussions. These dynamics sustain trader consensus favoring no military clash before 2027.

A "military encounter" is defined as any incident involving the use of force such as missile strikes, artillery fire, exchange of gunfire, or other forms of direct military engagement between Isreali and Turkish military forces. Non-violent actions, such as warning shots, artillery fire into uninhabited areas, or missile launches that land in territorial waters or pass through airspace, will not qualify for a "Yes" resolution. Intentional ship ramming that results in significant damage to (e.g., a hole in the hull) or the sinking of a military ship by another will count toward a "Yes" resolution, however minor damage (scrapes, dents) will not.
The resolution source for this market will be a consensus of credible reporting.
