Linda Gorton holds a commanding position in the 2026 Lexington mayoral race as the two-term incumbent who topped the May primary with 46 percent against six challengers, advancing alongside real estate agent Raquel Carter. Her prior general-election margins, council experience, and record on local issues such as growth boundaries and public safety underpin trader consensus reflected in the current pricing. A single August poll showed Gorton ahead 39-34 percent with 20 percent undecided. Recent actions, including a veto of rural solar-farm zoning and the planned replacement of the fire chief, have drawn limited attention but align with her established approach. Carter would need substantial movement among undecided voters or an unforeseen development in the final weeks before the November 3 general election to close the gap.
