Recent National Weather Service and private model guidance for Chicago on September 13 points to a daily minimum in the upper 50s to low 60s under partly cloudy skies with a modest chance of showers and northerly winds near 5–10 mph. This setup favors moderate overnight radiative cooling without strong cold-air advection, keeping temperatures near or slightly above the 1991–2020 climatological average low of ~60°F. Trader consensus reflected in the closely matched 46% odds on the ≤53°F and ≥72°F tails appears driven by residual model spread in boundary-layer mixing and cloud timing, which can shift the minimum by several degrees either way. Upcoming 00Z and 12Z model runs, plus any updated NWS forecast discussions, will likely tighten the distribution around the 58–63°F range as the event approaches.
