Forecast models from the National Weather Service and major ensembles currently project an overnight low in the upper 60s to low 70s for Chicago on September 5, driven by northeast winds off Lake Michigan that limit radiational cooling while keeping daytime highs in the upper 70s to mid-80s. Persistent humidity and variable cloud cover introduce uncertainty in the exact minimum, as clearer skies could allow deeper cooling toward 65°F or below while thicker clouds or lingering showers would hold readings higher. This spread explains the tight clustering of market-implied odds across 65–79°F bins, reflecting trader assessment of model spread and typical early-September variability against a warmer-than-average baseline. Updated model runs and NWS forecasts over the next 24 hours will likely sharpen the range before resolution.
