Recent National Weather Service and ensemble model guidance highlight persistent onshore flow and a shallow marine layer moderating maximum temperatures across the Los Angeles basin for September 5, with LAX observations typically running several degrees cooler than downtown or inland sites. This setup supports the near-even market split between the 78–79 °F and 80–81 °F bins, as subtle differences in afternoon clearing timing, wind strength, or exact observation station can shift the peak by 1–2 °F. Historical climatology shows a late-summer average high near 77 °F, while recent model runs indicate limited warming potential before any evening marine push. Updated NWS point forecasts and next model cycles will provide the final calibration ahead of resolution.
