A Pacific weather system approaching from the southwest, with southerly winds and increasing cloud cover, is the main driver behind trader positioning for Seattle’s September 2 overnight low. National Weather Service and model consensus point to a minimum near 55–56 °F under mostly cloudy skies and periods of rain, close to the 1991–2020 climatological average of 55.1 °F for the date. Marine air advection off the cool northeast Pacific and the urban heat-island effect from Puget Sound create narrow uncertainty bands, with slight model spread in timing of heaviest precipitation potentially shifting the low by 1–2 °F. New forecast updates from the National Weather Service and ensemble runs overnight will be the next key inputs for market resolution.
