Incumbent Prime Minister Robert Abela commands 90.5% trader consensus as next Prime Minister of Malta, reflecting Labour Party's polling dominance ahead of the May 30 snap general election he called for stability amid geopolitical tensions. Recent surveys show Abela holding a 14-point lead as preferred leader, bolstered by incumbency advantages and the party's historical success in proportional representation elections, where it secured a supermajority in 2022. Nationalist Party leader Alex Borg trails at 8.7% despite aggressive campaigning on economic modernization and mass rallies, but lacks momentum to overcome Labour's organizational edge. An upcoming chamber of commerce debate could narrow the gap, though major shifts would require late scandals, voter turnout surges in battleground districts, or unexpected coalition dynamics post-vote.
