This market will resolve to the next individual who officially assumes the office of Prime Minister of Romania by December 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET. To count for resolution, the individual must be formally appointed by the President of Romania and receive a vote of confidence from Parliament, resulting in the official formation of a new government. Any interim or caretaker Prime Minister who does not receive a parliamentary vote of confidence will not count toward the resolution of this market. If no such Prime Minister takes office by December 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to “Other”. The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the Government of Romania; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.Romania's ongoing government formation crisis, triggered by the May 2026 no-confidence vote that ousted Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan's PNL-led pro-EU coalition, continues to shape probabilities for the next prime minister. President Nicușor Dan has conducted repeated consultations with parties to rebuild a majority or explore technocratic options, but nominations including Eugen Tomac and Adrian Veștea failed to secure the required parliamentary support amid disputes over coalition composition and exclusion of the far-right AUR. Alexandru Nazare, serving as Minister of Finance, leads as traders assess his viability in potential PNL-USR-UDMR arrangements for a minority government. Sorin Grindeanu trails as PSD seeks greater influence or its own nominee, while fragmented support for other figures reflects stalled negotiations and the priority of maintaining pro-Western alignment ahead of the 2028 parliamentary elections.
