The Federal Reserve's 25-basis-point rate hike to 3.75-4.00% on September 16, paired with hawkish dot-plot signals for further tightening, drove the primary pressure on gold prices by lifting Treasury yields and supporting the dollar. XAU/USD fell to six-week lows near $4,235 before rebounding modestly above $4,300 as oil prices eased from recent spikes tied to Middle East supply risks, reducing immediate inflation concerns. Traders now watch the Bank of Japan's policy decision and upcoming U.S. data releases for shifts in risk sentiment and real yields, with gold's non-yielding status leaving it sensitive to sustained higher-for-longer policy expectations.
