Recent National Weather Service and model guidance point to a high near 78–82 °F for Chicago on September 9, driven by an incoming cold front that will increase cloud cover, trigger showers and thunderstorms (60 % chance), and limit daytime heating. Persistent humidity and west-to-northwest winds of 5–10 mph will further moderate peak readings, while any delay in storm timing or reduced cloud cover could allow brief spikes into the low 80s. Historical September 9 averages hover near 79 °F, but the current unsettled pattern aligns with trader consensus favoring the 78–81 °F bins; updated model runs tonight and early-morning observations will refine the exact maximum before markets close.
