Silver (XAG/USD) trades near $66 per ounce amid heightened sensitivity to U.S. monetary policy and the dollar. The primary near-term driver is the September 16 FOMC decision and preceding data releases, including the August employment report and CPI, which are shaping market-implied odds of a rate hold versus hike and influencing Treasury yields and USD strength. These macro factors have overridden longer-term bullish elements such as the sixth consecutive annual structural deficit of roughly 46–50 million ounces and resilient industrial demand from photovoltaics, EVs, AI infrastructure, and electronics. Analyst 2026 averages span $63–$95 across institutions, reflecting uncertainty over whether supply tightness or higher real yields will dominate price action in the week ahead.
