Parliamentary elections to elect the Saeima of Latvia are scheduled to take place on October 3, 2026. This market will resolve to the next individual who assumes the office of Prime Minister of Latvia following the specified elections. To count for resolution, the Cabinet led by the individual must receive the confidence of the Saeima in a vote of confidence. Any interim, caretaker, or acting Prime Minister, or a Prime Minister whose Cabinet has not received the confidence of the Saeima will not count toward the resolution of this market. If no such Prime Minister takes office by July 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to “Other”. The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the Saeima and the Government of Latvia; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.**Andris Kulbergs holds a strong lead in trader consensus for Latvia’s next prime minister, reflecting his confirmation as head of a four-party caretaker coalition in late May 2026.** The prior government under Evika Siliņa collapsed after coalition partner The Progressives withdrew support following the forced resignation of Defence Minister Andris Sprūds over incidents involving stray drones entering Latvian airspace from the Russia-Ukraine conflict zone. President Edgars Rinkēvičs then nominated Kulbergs of the United List, who secured parliamentary approval with a 66-25 vote for a centre-right to national-conservative alliance that includes New Unity, the National Alliance, and the Union of Greens and Farmers. With the 3 October 2026 Saeima election approaching and recent polling showing solid support for his grouping, traders price in continuity under Kulbergs while assigning lower probabilities to alternative party leaders such as Viktors Valainis. Security enhancements, including allied air support during the campaign, and the caretaker government’s focus on border defence and budget measures remain central factors in current assessments.
