Regulatory barriers and US-China tensions remain the dominant factor behind the market's strong 81% probability against Apple purchasing CXMT memory chips in 2026. CXMT's placement on the Pentagon blacklist, combined with export controls that block technology transfers and custom specifications, has limited any potential deals to off-the-shelf components for China-only devices despite Apple's recent testing of the DRAM chips for iPhones and MacBooks amid AI-driven shortages. Early talks and lobbying for White House approval face growing congressional pushback, creating substantial uncertainty around meaningful supply agreements. Key near-term catalysts include pending regulatory decisions and any shifts in production timelines or geopolitical developments that could either enable limited sourcing or reinforce restrictions.
