This market will resolve according to the stage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup at which South Africa is eliminated. If South Africa wins the tournament, this market will resolve to 'Champion'. If South Africa is disqualified, withdraws, is removed from the tournament, or the tournament is partially completed and not finished for any reason, this market will resolve according to the furthest completed round reached by South Africa based on the best available official information. If the 2026 FIFA World Cup is cancelled in full, postponed after August 2, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to 'Other'. The resolution source for this market will be official information from FIFA; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.South Africa’s return to the FIFA World Cup after a 16-year absence has produced a tough Group A draw against co-host Mexico, South Korea, and Czechia, positioning early elimination as the clear market leader. Bafana Bafana sit around 60th in the latest FIFA rankings and rely on a squad built around experienced players such as goalkeeper-captain Ronwen Williams, midfielder Teboho Mokoena, and forward Lyle Foster, with limited depth at the highest international level. Recent results in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations showed resilience but also inconsistency against stronger CAF sides, while the team’s last major-tournament outing ended in the group stage. The combination of a demanding schedule, modest squad value, and historical performance against comparable opponents has driven the strong consensus around a group-stage exit, with only slim implied probabilities attached to deeper runs.
