Brazil’s Attorney General Jorge Messias announced on August 6, 2026, plans to file a public civil action seeking to block Discord nationwide after citing inadequate child-protection measures, including a recent 13-year-old suicide and other reported incidents involving minors. First Lady Janja publicly urged the judiciary to take the platform offline, amplifying political pressure. Discord has already rolled out age-assurance tools and stricter teen settings in Brazil since March 2026 to meet the Digital ECA law, and company representatives met government officials to commit to further compliance. Courts are now reviewing the unprecedented request, creating near-term legal catalysts that could either trigger a full block or force additional moderation changes.

This market will resolve to "Yes" if use of Discord is banned within Brazil through a nationwide, legally effective government or court order and such ban is publicly confirmed between market creation and the specified date, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No".
A legally-effective nationwide court order requiring either the temporary suspension of Discord’s activities in Brazil or a prohibition on Discord operating in Brazil will qualify as a ban for the purposes of this market, regardless of whether technical implementation of the order has been completed.
An order that is stayed, suspended, or overturned before taking legal effect will not qualify. If a qualifying order takes legal effect, a subsequent stay, suspension, or reversal will not affect the market's resolution.
The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the Brazilian government, courts and Discord, however a consensus of credible reporting will also be used.
