National Weather Service guidance and supporting model runs currently favor a peak near 95–96°F at Houston’s official station on August 30 under mostly sunny skies, light southeast flow, and minimal early cloud cover. This places the 96–97°F and 94–95°F bins in close contention at roughly 75% combined market-implied probability. High surface dew points near 75°F will sustain elevated heat indices above 105°F, but any earlier or more widespread afternoon convection could trim the maximum by 1–2°F through increased cloud shading. Persistent subtropical high pressure has kept recent daytime maxima several degrees above the late-August climatological average of about 92°F, with only modest day-to-day variability expected ahead of the next frontal passage.
