**Official forecasts from the National Weather Service and other models converge on a high of 84–86°F for New York City on September 3, 2026, with showers and thunderstorms likely, especially morning and afternoon.** This places the market’s two leading bins (84–85°F and 86–87°F) nearly tied because the exact peak hinges on how much cloud cover and rainfall suppress daytime heating. Southwest flow ahead of a frontal system is advecting humid air, supporting mid-80s readings under partly to mostly cloudy skies. However, widespread cloudiness and precipitation reduce incoming solar radiation, limiting the potential for temperatures to push into the upper 80s or low 90s. Model guidance shows only modest diurnal warming once storms develop, keeping the maximum close to the seasonal average high of ~80°F but well below the date’s all-time record of 99°F. The near-even split in trader probabilities reflects this narrow range of outcomes: clearer breaks between storms could allow brief spikes toward 87°F, while persistent rain and thicker cloud decks would cap readings nearer 84°F. No major forecast shifts have occurred in the past 24 hours, and the next model runs or updated NWS discussions will likely determine which bin pulls ahead before the day’s temperature is recorded at Central Park.
