Frank Klingebiel, the long-serving CDU incumbent since 2006, secured 45.6% in the September 13 first round, advancing to a September 27 runoff against AfD candidate Patricia Mair at 25.7%. This positioning reflects his established local profile and the typical consolidation of non-AfD votes behind the leading centrist option in German municipal runoffs. Other candidates, including SPD's Tobias Bey at 19.4%, fell short of the top two, limiting fragmentation risks for Klingebiel. Traders assign him 97% implied probability based on these results and historical patterns where incumbents with pluralities prevail in head-to-head contests, though a late surge in turnout or coalition dynamics could still narrow the margin.
