Recent polling averages place Democratic incumbent Jon Ossoff several points ahead of Republican nominee Mike Collins in the November 2026 general election, with Ossoff often clearing or approaching 50 percent. The Republican primary process concluded in June when Collins defeated Derek Dooley in the runoff, consolidating GOP support behind a single challenger and reducing the prospect of vote fragmentation. With no significant third-party or independent candidates currently drawing measurable support, the two-candidate structure favors the emergence of a majority winner on election night. Georgia law triggers a December 1 runoff only if neither candidate reaches 50 percent, and current head-to-head surveys plus historical patterns of undecided-voter consolidation underpin the elevated trader consensus that an outright result is probable.
