The near-even split between 80-81°F (41%) and 82-83°F (46.5%) reflects uncertainty over how rapidly the morning marine layer clears and the strength of afternoon sea breezes that typically cap peaks in the Los Angeles basin. National Weather Service guidance shows low clouds and fog giving way to sun with highs ranging from the mid-70s near the coast to the mid-80s inland, consistent with mid-September climatology near 76°F but elevated by recent warm anomalies. Subtle differences in wind direction, dew points, and exact clearing timing can shift the daily maximum by 2-3°F across official stations, keeping trader consensus tightly balanced until final observations resolve the range.
