The Trump administration's Gold Card visa program, launched in December 2025 following an executive order, requires a $1 million contribution plus processing fees for expedited U.S. residency. As of late April 2026, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick reported only one approval despite hundreds in the queue and earlier claims of billions in sales. Legal challenges, processing delays, and subdued interest from wealthy applicants have slowed momentum, aligning with trader consensus that volumes will stay minimal through year-end. Historical precedents for similar investor visa initiatives show uptake often hinges on streamlined adjudication and clear policy signals, factors that remain unresolved here. Scheduled congressional oversight and potential court rulings through mid-2026 could still influence final tallies before resolution on December 31.
