Trader consensus on the 72-73°F bin edging the 70-71°F outcome reflects typical late-August uncertainty in San Francisco’s coastal microclimate. Persistent marine layer haze and moderate onshore westerlies at 10-20 mph from the Pacific are limiting daytime heating, consistent with National Weather Service guidance projecting highs in the upper 60s to low 70s. Subtle differences in marine layer burn-off timing, cloud cover, and wind strength can shift the daily maximum by 2-3°F; weaker onshore flow or earlier clearing favors the higher bin, while stronger winds or lingering fog anchor readings nearer 70°F. Historical August averages near 69°F and low precipitation probability reinforce the narrow spread between these leading outcomes.
