Fuerza Popular secured a commanding plurality of seats in Peru’s restored bicameral Congress during the April 12–13 general election, with official ONPE tallies showing roughly 39–40 of the 130 Chamber of Deputies seats amid a fragmented opposition field. This outcome, reflected in the 99.4 percent trader consensus, stems from the party’s broad national vote share and coattails from Keiko Fujimori’s leading first-round presidential performance, which emphasized security and economic stability under the new proportional representation system across 27 districts. Recent JNE rulings have dismissed most challenges, leaving results largely certified with over 99 percent of ballots counted. Only extraordinary legal reversals or successful district-level recounts before congressional installation could alter the seat distribution.
