Chung Tung-chin’s incumbency as Miaoli County magistrate since December 2022 drives the 88.5% trader consensus, reflecting his established administrative record and voter base in a county with consistent support for independent or pan-Blue aligned candidates in magistrate races. The DPP’s November 2025 nomination of Chen Pin-an as challenger registers at 7.0%, consistent with the party’s historical performance in the area and the absence of major reported polling shifts or scandals that would alter the field ahead of the November 2026 vote. KMT rallies in July 2026 across multiple counties reinforced organizational activity without signaling a strong alternative nominee in Miaoli, while earlier legal matters tied to the 2022 contest have not produced new disqualifying developments. Traders price structural advantages such as name recognition and local networks more heavily than potential late entries or coalition dynamics.
