The crowded field of more than two dozen candidates for the October 4, 2026, Trujillo mayoral election in Peru has kept probabilities tightly clustered, with no single contender exceeding 36% in trader consensus. Fragmented support across local lists and independent bids, combined with voter focus on extortion, gang violence, and public security in the La Libertad region, has prevented any clear separation in the weeks since the June presidential runoff. Recent polling and candidate announcements show modest movement among mid-tier names like Víctor Julio León Álvarez and Roy Charlie Arbaiza Corcuera, but structural factors such as Peru’s open-list municipal system and low name recognition continue to sustain high uncertainty. Scheduled debates or party endorsements in the coming weeks could shift liquidity toward frontrunners if they consolidate backing from key districts.
