Romania's ongoing parliamentary deadlock since the May 2026 no-confidence vote against the Bolojan government has prompted President Nicușor Dan to pursue multiple prime ministerial nominations amid resistance from major parties. Early attempts at an independent or technocratic cabinet, including the short-lived designation of Eugen Tomac, collapsed due to insufficient parliamentary support from the PSD and AUR. The latest nominee, Siegfried Mureșan of the PNL, is a sitting MEP with clear party ties and is backed by a center-right grouping seeking a political coalition rather than specialists. Public polling and statements from PSD and UDMR leaders further signal preference for party-led arrangements or early elections over a neutral technocratic executive, reinforcing trader consensus around the 68% "No" probability.

Any interim or caretaker Prime Minister who does not receive a parliamentary vote of confidence will not count toward the resolution of this market.
If no such Prime Minister is confirmed by December 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to “No.”
The primary resolution sources for this market will be official information from the Government of Romania and a consensus of credible reporting.
