Erika Jurinová holds the leading position in the Žilina Region governor race as the incumbent since 2017 seeking a third term, backed by a broad coalition of center-right and liberal parties including Hnutie Slovensko, SaS, Progresívne Slovensko, and others that consolidated support following her June 2026 announcement. This backing, combined with her record on infrastructure, social services, and regional connectivity, underpins trader consensus around her implied probability. Main challengers include Igor Choma of Smer-SD, positioned as the primary alternative after his selection by the governing coalition, along with independents and smaller-party nominees such as Martin Kapitulík, Anna Belousovová, and Adam Lučanský. A July SANEP poll showed Jurinová narrowly ahead of Choma amid substantial undecided voters, while the October 24 vote remains weeks away with potential for shifts from turnout or late developments.
