Recent UK inflation data at 2.6% in June, combined with the Bank of England's July 30 decision to hold Bank Rate at 3.75% amid a 6-3 MPC vote, has anchored trader expectations for no change at the September 17 meeting. Elevated energy prices stemming from Middle East conflict are projected to push CPI toward 3.2% by year-end, tilting risks to the upside and outweighing underlying disinflation signals in goods, services, and labor market slack. Market-implied odds reflect this policy stance of caution, consistent with official guidance that monetary policy must guard against second-round effects while monitoring incoming wage and price data. A sharper-than-expected de-escalation in energy costs or weaker growth figures could introduce scope for a shift, though such outcomes remain low-probability near-term catalysts.
