Recent National Weather Service and model consensus point to northerly flow and high pressure building behind a frontal passage, limiting moisture advection and capping highs for New York City on September 5 near the upper 70s to low 80s. This aligns with the market-implied odds favoring 80-81°F and 78-79°F outcomes, as reduced southerly winds and clearer skies suppress afternoon heating compared to recent humid conditions. Key variables include precise wind direction shifts, boundary-layer mixing, and any late-day sea-breeze effects that could nudge readings across 80°F thresholds. Historical September averages near 80°F provide context, though current guidance shows modest cooling relative to early-month warmth. Updated model runs and NWS briefings in the next 48 hours will refine these probabilities amid inherent forecast uncertainty.
