Recent polls ahead of the September 6, 2026, Sachsen-Anhalt Landtag election show the AfD leading with 41-43 percent while the CDU holds a stable second position at 22-24 percent, well ahead of Die Linke near 13 percent and smaller parties below 7 percent. This positioning reflects the CDU's established base in the state despite declines from its prior result, combined with fragmented support for other non-AfD options. The gap has remained consistent across multiple surveys through mid-August. A late surge by Die Linke or the SPD, unusually high turnout favoring smaller parties, or major campaign developments could narrow the margin, though current trends indicate limited scope for such shifts before election day.
