Recent polling ahead of Berlin’s September 20, 2026 state election shows a fragmented field, with Die Linke, CDU, AfD, Greens, and SPD each hovering near or below 20 percent and no bloc approaching a majority. Incumbent Kai Wegner stepped aside as CDU lead candidate in July after criticism over the city’s response to a prolonged blackout, elevating Finance Senator Stefan Evers. Elif Eralp (Die Linke), Werner Graf (Greens), and others remain active contenders. Because the Abgeordnetenhaus elects the governing mayor, coalition arithmetic rather than raw vote shares will decide the outcome. This structural uncertainty sustains closely matched trader probabilities across leading names, with any post-election agreement or surprise poll shift likely to widen spreads.
