This market will resolve to “Yes” if, by December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, any Federal or State jurisdiction of the United States formally charges or otherwise announces a criminal indictment of any individual, and the cause of that charge or indictment is attributed to information contained in files related to Jeffrey Epstein released by the federal government on or after December 19, 2025, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No”. A qualifying charge or indictment must be caused by information included in Epstein-related files released on or after December 19, 2025. The cause of the charge or indictment may be established through official charging documents, official information from law enforcement authorities, relevant legal entities, or the US federal government, or through a clear consensus of credible reporting attributing the charge/indictment to information contained in those released files. Charges or indictments driven by information that was publicly known before December 19, 2025, or by reasons unrelated to the content of the released Epstein-related files, will not qualify. For the purposes of this market the District of Columbia and any county, municipality, or other subdivision of a State shall be included within the definition of a State. The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from US governmental sources, however a consensus of credible reporting will also be used.**The high 89% implied probability for "No" on charges stemming from Epstein disclosures reflects the U.S. Department of Justice’s consistent position across multiple large file releases that the materials do not provide a sufficient evidentiary basis for new federal prosecutions.** Senior DOJ officials, including Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, stated in early 2026—following the release of more than three million pages of documents, videos, and images under the Epstein Files Transparency Act—that prior reviews found no predicate for investigating or charging unindicted third parties. Officials noted that correspondence, photographs, and other records, while revealing associations with prominent figures, do not meet standards for criminal charges without corroborating evidence of participation in Epstein’s crimes. Ghislaine Maxwell remains the only individual convicted in connection with the underlying sex-trafficking scheme. Subsequent actions have reinforced this stance. In August 2026, the DOJ issued a formal report to Congress detailing categories of records released or withheld, redactions justified under the Act, and officials referenced in the materials, without signaling any new investigations or indictments. Congressional oversight, including House probes and related litigation such as New Mexico’s suit against the DOJ, continues to examine handling of the files and foreign contacts, but these proceedings have not produced charging announcements or altered the department’s assessment of prosecutable evidence. Traders appear to weigh the absence of any reversal in official DOJ conclusions—despite voluminous disclosures and political attention—as the dominant factor supporting the current odds. Structural factors such as statutes of limitations, evidentiary thresholds for conspiracy or related offenses, and the historical pattern of limited prosecutions further contribute to expectations that resolution will favor no charges.
