Recent forecasts from the National Weather Service and models indicate Chicago's September 5 high will likely fall in the low-to-mid 80s after several days of 90-plus readings, driven by a shift to northeast winds that draw cooler, more stable air off Lake Michigan. This onshore flow, combined with partly cloudy skies and only a slight morning shower risk, limits afternoon heating compared to recent southwesterly patterns. Lake-effect moderation often caps lakefront readings several degrees below inland suburbs, creating tight differentiation among 80-85°F bins. Trader consensus aligns with ensemble guidance showing limited warm bias, though any delay in wind shift or reduced cloud cover could push readings higher before resolution.
