Latest Met Office guidance and ensemble models point to a maximum of 21–23°C in London on September 19 under a southwesterly flow advecting mild maritime air, with increasing cloud cover and light rain risk limiting daytime heating. This synoptic setup—typical for mid-September—keeps temperatures near the seasonal climatological mean while suppressing stronger warming that would require clearer skies or a more southerly wind component. Short-range model runs show tight clustering around these values, with minimal spread, which underpins the market’s heavy weighting toward 22°C followed by 21°C and 23°C. Traders appear to be pricing in the low likelihood of significant forecast shifts before resolution, given stable large-scale patterns and the absence of blocking highs or cold fronts.
