Recent Swedish polling averages place Vänsterpartiet narrowly ahead of Kristdemokraterna in voting intentions ahead of the September 13, 2026, Riksdag election, though both parties hover in the low-to-mid single digits and show modest volatility. V has recorded statistically significant gains since 2022, drawing support from left-leaning voters amid broader centre-left bloc strength, while KD has seen incremental recovery within the governing Tidö arrangement yet remains constrained by Sweden’s high secularization and limited religious voter base. The narrow gap reflects shifting bloc alignments, the 4% parliamentary threshold’s impact on smaller parties, and the absence of decisive late-campaign events. Upcoming debates, economic data releases, or turnout shifts among swing demographics could alter relative performance before election day.
