Recent UK CPI data showed easing to 2.6% in June 2026, the lowest since March 2025, supported by moderating food and transport components. However, the February onset of US-Iran conflict drove sustained energy price increases that the Bank of England’s July Monetary Policy Report projects will lift CPI to 3.2% by October-November before gradual moderation, keeping the 2026 annual average well above the 2% target. These dynamics create closely matched implied probabilities between the 2.5–2.9% and 3.5–3.9% ranges, reflecting trader assessment of whether indirect effects and wage pressures will push outcomes higher or allow faster disinflation. Upcoming August CPI and BoE communications remain key near-term catalysts.
