Taiwanese local elections are scheduled to be held on November 28, 2026. This market will resolve according to the candidate who becomes the next Magistrate of Changhua County as a result of this election. Temporary, interim, or placeholder Magistrates appointed before the election will not be considered. If the result of this election isn't known, or no candidate has been elected, by June 30, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, the market will resolve to "Other". This market will resolve based on the results of the elections as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the Taiwanese government, specifically the Central Election Commission (https://db.cec.gov.tw/).Chen Su-yueh holds the leading position in the Changhua County Magistrate race due to consistent polling advantages and unified Democratic Progressive Party backing, while KMT nominee Wei Ping-cheng trails amid internal party divisions. Recent polls, including an August ETToday survey, show Chen ahead by double digits (around 36% to 19%), with independent candidate Chiu Chien-fu drawing roughly 13% and many voters undecided. KMT leadership bypassed primaries to nominate lawyer Wei directly in May 2026, sidelining contenders such as Hsieh Yi-fong, Ko Cheng-fang, and Hung Jung-chang; this sparked criticism from former magistrate Cho Po-yuan and limited support from incumbent Wang Hui-mei, who has avoided Wei’s events. President Lai Ching-te has repeatedly campaigned for Chen, emphasizing local development priorities. These dynamics, combined with the absence of a Taiwan People’s Party candidate, have shaped trader assessments of the November 2026 outcome ahead of candidate registration.
