Recent developments around Marine Le Pen’s legal appeals and 2027 presidential ambitions have kept the National Rally’s 2026 internal leadership contest tightly balanced. Jordan Bardella, the incumbent president since 2022, benefits from strong youth support and recent electoral gains, yet Le Pen retains deep party loyalty and experience. Other figures such as Louis Aliot and Sébastien Chenu draw limited backing, leaving the outcome dependent on member votes at the upcoming congress. Traders see no clear frontrunner because the contest hinges on whether Le Pen seeks to reclaim formal control or endorses Bardella, alongside broader questions of generational transition and preparation for the presidential cycle. Upcoming party procedures and any shifts in polling or alliances could widen gaps before resolution.
