Recent National Weather Service and model guidance point to a persistent marine layer and moderate onshore flow moderating coastal Los Angeles temperatures on August 24, keeping official readings (typically LAX) in the low-to-mid 80s rather than the hotter inland peaks shown in some broader forecasts. Sea-breeze development by afternoon, combined with light southwest winds around 5–10 mph, is expected to cap the daily maximum near 82–85 °F, aligning with the market’s tight clustering around those bins. Minor differences in model timing for the sea breeze or afternoon cloud cover create the narrow spread between the 80–81 °F, 82–83 °F, and 84–85 °F outcomes, while historical August coastal averages near 77 °F underscore why traders assign low probability to 88 °F or higher. Updated model runs and NWS afternoon briefings tomorrow will refine the exact peak.
